Nero Assoluto, often called the most elegant black natural stone, is a fine-crystalline plutonic rock. Its best known variety is Nero Assoluto Z, mined in Zimbabwe, Africa. According to its petrological classification it is a gabbro, which consists of mainly plagioclase, feldspar, black pyroxene minerals.
It is characterized by a homogeneous fine-grained structure and a deep black color complemented by pale gray grains. As one of the darkest natural stones, its timeless appearance make it very popular as a stone covering in both traditional and modern architectural environments.
The most common use of Nero Assoluto Z is floor and wall coverings, as well as kitchentops and window sills with polished surface, which lends a distinctive character to the interior design spaces. Worktops and counters with a flamed+brushed or honed+brushed surface are also becoming more and more popular.
As a frost resistant natural stone, it can also be used for outdoor applications with flamed surface.
